About this deck
Akai's flagship-class three-head deck from 1989, listed at ¥69,800 in Japan and built around the wear-resistant LC-OFC Super GX glass-crystal head. Freshly serviced and precision-aligned on our bench: faithful 1:1 recordings, extended highs and full, powerful lows. Condition is good with only light traces of use.
Closed-loop dual-capstan transport with manual bias trim, CRLP computer record-level processing, Dolby B/C with HX Pro, CD/DAT direct input, tape-end fade, counter memory, automatic tape selector, MPX filter and a Sorbothane cassette stabilizer.

FRONT PANEL
Super GX head, visible and original
The LC-OFC Super GX glass-crystal head badge is the giveaway of this flagship line. Buttons and faceplate show light handling wear consistent with age, nothing structural. The counter and indicator lights were checked during the bench pass.
TOP COVER
Cosmetic condition, shown as-is
Black top cover is intact with no dents. Light surface marks are visible in full-resolution photos — this is a 1989 deck, not a reproduction, and we show it exactly as it sits on the shelf.
TRANSPORT
Closed-loop dual capstan, rebuilt
Belts replaced, capstan and pinch roller cleaned and re-aligned, azimuth set on the scope with a calibrated test tape. This is the mechanism every tape actually runs through — we photograph it so you know what you're buying, not just the badge on the front.
REAR PANEL
CD/DAT direct input, all connections tested
Line in/out and the CD/DAT direct input were tested with a signal during the bench pass. AC inlet accepts 100V — see the voltage note above before you order a step-down transformer.
